Lightbulb Innovyze Tips and Tricks: How to change the scroll mouse direction in InfoWater SA

Users of our Innovyze InfoWater SA products have asked how to change the scroll mouse direction within our InfoWater SA product.

As InfoWater SA uses a back end ESRI ArcGIS 10.5 Engine the user does not have the same easy ability to change the scroll mouse in the ArcMap Options window found in the Customize menu in ArcGIS.

But, it is fairly easy to add a setting change to the registry that will make this change for you.

This post will describe the instructions needed to make this change:

This procedure will work for any Innovyze SA product including InfoWater SA, InfoSewer SA, and InfoSWMM SA that all use the same ESRI ArcGIS 10.5 Engine:

    1. NOTE: You need to have admin rights to edit your registry or have someone add this who has admin rights
    2. Close all InfoWater SA, InfoSewer SA, and/or InfoSWMM SA products
    3. Open Regedit.exe on your windows machine (Type search in the Start menu)
    4. Browse here: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ESRI\Engine10. 5\ArcMap\Settings
    5. Right Click and select “NEW”
    6. Choose DWORD (32-bit) Value
      1. (click if need larger image)
        1. SA Scroll Mouse -Registry Edit 1.png

    7. Rename as “ReverseMouseWheel”
      1. Note if no longer blue to change the name simply right click and select rename

    8. Now right Click on the entry and select “Modify”
      1. Change the setting to “1” and hit ok
      2. (click if need larger image)
      3. SA Scroll Mouse -Registry Edit 2.png

    9. Reopen your SA product and the scroll mouse should now be the reverse of the default and will now zoom in on a scroll down and zoom out on a scroll up

If you need further assistance in this manner please feel free to contact us at support@innovyze.com or reply to this thread.

By the way for users of InfoWater who also want to make this change it is even easier. In ArcGIS in the ArcGIS menu -> Customize -> Select ArcMap Options

On The General Tab at the bottom change the scroll mouse setting to "Zooms Out" on roll forward.

Note: Some Users In Australia had found that they had to change the setting from 0 to 1 more than once to get it to resolve the issue. But this resolved it the first time for me in the US. So if it does not resolve it at first try repeating the steps and changing the value back to zero (default) and then same and then change to 1 again and this should fix it.
