    Regarding phantom runoff depth in conduit

    Hi All,

    I am a User of Infoworks CS 14.5, OS Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit.

    Well, for master planning purposes, we have a trunk main model. For the design horizon of 2060, the model was loaded with ultimate flow using Subcatchment baseflows. However, for a year 2024 scenario analysis run, the model was required to be run at lower loading without changing node, conduit scope, geometry. Since 2024 loading will be lower and some of the upstream communities will not be there by that time, representative catchments were removed from upstream nodes at the beginning of the trunk main. When the model is run, flows from remaining subcatchments flow accordingly. However, though there is no runoff introduced at the upstream nodes (in any shape and form); the conduits exhibit 'phantom' depth (evident from attached images). Obviously, u/s & d/s depths at conduits not flowing any runoff is not desirable. Removing the trunk main section unused in 2024 is not a preferred option.

    Could you please share your insights as to why this is happening and any workaround to resolve the confusion?

    These look to be base flows. See the help topic Simulation parameters, in particular the section on 'Base Flow Factor' for more details.
