Thread: Inactive Nodes

    Inactive Nodes

Our company is new to InfoWater SA software. We are modelling our water network on the existing water network model provided by the local council of the area. We have drawn our network into the existing model and when changing between scenarios few of our nodes becomes inactive and simulation error says "Pipe 5544_P103 refers to undefined node".

If you could tell me what we are doing wrong will be much appreciated.

It sounds like you have a facility set issue. If you open the scenario manager and go to the "facility Tab" for that scenario (note you cannot edit this in the active scenario only in non-active scenarios) you will see what facility "set" is applied for different scenarios.

The most common way of doing this is to use the "query Set" option. This will use a set of queries to identify which elements are active for that scenario. For any scenario pipe that is active both node (i.e. point type elements -> junctions, pumps, tanks, reservoirs, and valves) at the endpoints of that pipe need to be active or you will get an error when you try to run the scenario that the pipe X refers to an undefined Node.

There are other methods you can use in the facility Set tab of the scenario manager such as "Intelliselect" which is where the user manages which elements are active using the facility manager. Just make sure that for any pipe active the node elements at the active pipe endpoints are also active.

If you wish a valve or pump to be inactive for a given scenario it is best to make both pipes connected to the valve/pump inactive when the valve/pump is inactive. The model will have difficulties if a valve/pump does not have the pipe upstream and the pipe downstream active.

If you need further assistance on this issue please respond to this thread.
