    Closed reservoir error

    Hello forum,

I'm having difficulty figuring out and resolving the issue of "closed reservoirs" which is causing my model run to fail. All the reservoir heads in the model are set to represent the static level in the wells, all the connecting pipe starts at the reservoir and ends at the pump, and all design flows and heads for the pumps are correct so I'm not sure of the other reasons that can cause the reservoirs remain closed during the model run. How can I resolve this...

Below is a section of the model run report. Thanks

    Nykieta,

When a tank is set to initial level = max level , EPANET when solving will close all pipes connected to a tank.

Since all of the tanks and reservoirs are getting closed you are getting this message
    0:00:00: System ill-conditioned at Node J9576
    Total Supplied: 0.00 gpm
    Total Demanded: 2757.00 gpm

Ill conditioned means it cannot trace back to a known head value at a tank or reservoir. You can also see there is no water supply.

Check to see if you have pipes closed or pumps off as zero water supply is being provided.

Starting the tanks below the max level should allow them to operate as well.
