    smooth RTC for opening and closing VSGate - variable vertical sluice

    All,

    I have inherited a model that uses RTCs to open and close VSGates using multiple times and rules. The rules set 'POS', the vertical position of the gate, at incremental times. This is not smooth and creates an unnatural flow response in the network.

    Is there a way of smoothing the transition of POS between open and closed?

    many thanks

    For future reference..

    range - Q flow
    variable - measurement: time, operator:timer, arguments: is it flowing ie use the range previously set up
    table - input range use the variable you just set up, output measure:depth, type: enter the time you want the gate to open or shut 60s 0m; 120s 1m; 240s 1m
    rule - condition: use the range, typeos, variable:use the table

    Pro tip: always include an extra row in your table to ensure the gate opens correctly:

    60s 0m;
    120s 1m;
    240s 1m
