Modeling a Valve in Infoworks CS

I have a small structure on a hill that stores wastewater flow until a certain level and then a actuated valve opens and drains the structure until empty at which point the valve closes and the structure begins filling again. Since the deactivation level is much less than the starting level and the discharge is under pressure I do not think a siphon is an appropriate modeling feature but I need some control device that can open and close based on the level of an upstream node. What is the best way to add a valve or this functionality in Infoworks CS?

    Hi,

Usually a pump object would be used for this but as you have stated that the tank is on top of a hill and drain rather than being actively emptied the operation is slightly different.

In a case like this I would suggest using an RTC object such as a variable sluice gate or a variable orifice to empty the tank. This should allow for rules to be defined that will follow the levels your valve operates under.
