Hi Patrick, Thanks for your reply. Yes...

    Hi Patrick,

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes there is a bypass for reverse flow. I had a pump running that was playing havoc. I used the PRV initial status setting control and it's spot on.

    Thanks!

Model PRV to open when pressure drops

    Hi,

Have a PRV that is normally shut with a reflux bypass to fill a res. The downstream pressure of the PRV is normally greater than the setting and it stays shut. Although at times when the...
  3. Hydrant stand pipe friction/flow coefficient

Hi there, I'm trying to determine a general friction/flow coefficient for a standard stand pipe.291 I 've tried the suppliers and they don't seem to have (or want to pass on) the data. Anyone have...

    Model two adjacent reservoirs

I'm trying to model two adjacent reservoirs which are identical size and elevation joined by a 100mm pipe about 2m long. My model seems to be doing funny things. I'm pretty sure it's the short length...

    Variable speed parallel pump

    Hi there,

I'm running a variable speed pump with one parallel. I'm getting open but exceeds maximum flow.

But when I look at flow, head gain and speed they match a stable flow zone point on...

Thanks Patrick. Apparently there's a text for water distribution developed by Innovyze. Do you know what this is and would it answer all my hydraulic queries?

Thanks Patrick. I'm sorry I still have confusion...

Thanks Patrick. I'm sorry I still have confusion here:

As you have stated the emitter/discharge coefficient (Ce/Cd) are dimensional values of (SI) = flow/(m)^0.5. Although the 'valvias' resource...

    Node emitters - H2OWater

    Hi,

I'm trying to model a valve that discharges to the atmosphere for environmental purposes.

    The emitter equation: q=Cpg.

Firstly is C (discharge coefficient) also known as Cv (flow...
  9. Hi, I was just having the exact same issues...

    Hi,

I was just having the exact same issues and Patrick helped me out, so I trust he will verify my response here:

Pump exceeds maximum flow means the pump is trying to operate too far to the...

    Hi Patrick,

Yes I'm aware the headloss increases with flow (assuming pipe parameters don't change) I was just curious about that multiplier relationship. But just now I realised the same...

    Hi Patrick,

Thanks for response and apologies for the delayed reply as I had some time off.

I'm incorrect when I say 'product of the headloss change,' it's really the multiplicand (just looked...

    Hazen Williams

    Hi,

What's the Hazen Williams friction factor H2O water uses? I can't read it properly in help file.

Furthermore I'm curious why when flow is increases, the product of the head loss change...

    Hi Patrick,

Thanks for your advice on connecting to tanks, I did connect through a pipe and it made no difference with the TCVs. I was on update 6, updating to 7 now. The minor loss field is...

There's something wrong with because some of my TCVs use the setting as the K but some of them use the minor loss field. I have been testing it for a while now. As I mentioned when you open the...

OK I see now. If I don't have a curve then my setting is the K value. Sometimes the minor loss field is greyed out (as it should be for a TCV) but sometimes it is not and you can input numbers which...

    K, Kv and Cv clarification - H2OMAP

    Hi,

Do the minor losses for valves require the K resistance coefficient? Wanted some clarification of K and Kv (flow coefficient) and Cv which I'm pretty sure is imperial.

    I've got these...

Say my throttle valve (butterfly) is being modelled fully open (90 degrees). No curve just a K value, does the setting (0-100) take a percentage of the K value? So a setting of 50 would half...
